Village residents receive MDT — “multiple drug therapy” consisting of dapsone, rifampicine (Rimactane ) and clofazimine (Lamprene ) — which suppresses the disease and stops it from spreading to others. While these keep leprosy from being contagious, they do not reverse its ravages.
