Next 7 Wonders
Mon, November 13, 2006
Nothing like a bit of national TV exposure to help book sales, so we were pleased when Good Morning America asked me to be one of their panelists to name the ‘Next 7 Wonders of the World.’ A full day of debate and horse-trading among the 6 of us panelists proved fascinating (at the venerable Explorers Club in New York City, no less). We debated our hundred-plus nominations down to a select seven.
Special bonus was getting to meet fellow panelist and ocean diva Sylvia Earle, who was named one of Time Magazine’s “Heroes of the Planet." Author-philosopher Pico Iyer was a delight and brought his giant intelligence and delicate manner to the table. An astrophysicist, a high-altitude archeologist and a theological travel writer rounded out our group. They just started announcing the wonders we chose (super top secret!) on Nov. 9 and are sending their anchors to do live shots from these‘wonder’ locations.
