International Women’s Day
Thu, March 08, 2007
All over the world today there are celebrations and events in honor of International Women’s Day. Here at HQ we’re sending out V-Day cards, courtesy of Eve Ensler’s organization which works to end violence against women worldwide; and eating red velvet cupcakes and clinking our fizzy water to two great American Texan Divas who passed this year, politico Ann Richards and columnist Molly Ivins. Ivins left us with this gem: “Keep fightin’ for freedom and justice, beloveds, but don’t you forget to have fun doin’ it. Lord, let your laughter ring forth. Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats, rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce. And when you get through kickin’ ass and celebratin’ the sheer joy of a good fight, be sure to tell those who come after how much fun it was.”

hey all...i just noticed the reference to v-day and eve ensler...what a fantastic cause to support. i was lucky enough to work on an independent film crew this summer documenting the v-day events that took place in manhattan and the surrounding boroughs. fantastic, powerful, positive women making incredible things happen! its great to see support running through such a broad and powerful network of dynamic women!
